South Dakota Rising Stars

First Lady Sandy Rhoden is honored to recognize the great South Dakotans that bring a positive light to their communities with humility and grace. We have so many Rising Stars in our state that go above and beyond to serve their neighbors. The First Lady is seeking nominations for the first South Dakota Rising Award to show appreciation to these very special individuals.

We have South Dakotans that have made a positive life change both physically and mentally that serves as a model to others. These are our Healthy Rising Stars.

We also have South Dakotans that have started something new in their community to help others or improve others’ quality of life, our Innovative Rising Stars.

Our Servant Rising Stars are the South Dakotans who have sacrificed time and treasure to pour into others to improve their quality of life.

Finally, our Sturdy Rising Stars have taken risks to make a positive lifestyle change or inspire a positive change in others.

Nominations are open until November 3rd. This year’s selected Rising Stars will be recognized in early December with a special ceremony in Pierre. Given that state employees are already honored with the Governor’s Excellence Award, the South Dakota Rising Award will focus on individuals outside of state government.
